Naval Sea Cadet Corps 
Andrew J. Higgins Squadron, NAS/JRB New Orleans

The USNSCC, Andrew J. Higgins Squadron, is located at the U.S. Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB), New Orleans located in Belle Chasse, LA.  Each cadet is tested to meet the physical and academic challenges that the Corps presents.


The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) is a program for young men and women ages 13-17 who are interested in developing their skills in leadership, basic seamanship, courage, self-reliance, military discipline, and commitment to being drug and gang free.


The Naval Sea Cadet Program is organized under the cognizance of the Navy League of the United States, New Orleans Council.

The Young Marines Program is a National Youth Program open to qualified candidates of both boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17.  It is the sole youth program which boasts to be the official anti-drug program of the United States Marine Corps. 

The mission of the Young Marines Program is to positively impact America’s future by providing quality youth development for both boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug and criminal gang-free lifestyle.

New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy

The mission of the New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy is to educate high school students, no matter their background or previous school experience, to fully achieve their personal and academic potential through the acquisition of core knowledge and the skills of analysis, problem solving, communication, and global responsibility. (Grades 9-12) 

Bastion Community of Resilience
Bastion is an intentional community in which wounded, ill, or injured veterans live alongside retired military and civilian volunteers. Every Bastion resident benefits from the experience of helping others, and this in turn promotes wellbeing and life satisfaction. The Bastion approach restores families, reduces stress at home, and expands social networks to strengthen resilience.
